Bornean Orangutan is an endangered species of orangutan that is native to the Borneo island where Malaysia and Indonesia share a border in between. They usually live in the nature forests ranging from the lowland swampy areas to the dipterocarp forests. Bornean Orangutans are arboreal animals and seldom descend to the ground. These highly intelligent great apes are vital in maintaining the health of the forest ecosystem as they play a role in seeds dispersal, hence they are called gardeners of the forests as well. As of 2012, their population number is at 104,700, and it is expected to fall further to 47,000 by 2025 if steps are not taken to protect this species.
